Role

The Senior Manager of Finance plays a vital role in keeping the organization’s mission sustainable. You will oversee daily financial operations, ensure strict legal and tax compliance, and manage cash flows. This role is about building strong systems and guiding a team to ensure every rupee is accounted for as the organization scales its impact.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily accounting and ensure all transactions follow Indian GAAP and internal NGO policies.
  • Manage statutory compliance, including the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, Income Tax (12A/80G), and FCRA regulations.
  • Coordinate audits (statutory, internal, and FCRA) and resolve any audit observations promptly.
  • Oversee tax-related matters, including TDS filings, tax audits, and preparing documentation for assessments.
  • Monitor monthly cash flows and prepare forecasts to ensure funds are available for programs and salaries.
  • Support the Director of Finance in managing investments and banking operations securely.
  • Lead the monthly MIS reporting and budget variance analysis to provide clear financial insights to leadership.
  • Guide and mentor the finance team, ensuring accuracy in payroll, reconciliations, and data entry.
  • Strengthen internal controls and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain high data integrity.

Requirements

  • Inter CA or Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Commerce (B.Com/M.Com).
  • 10 years of experience in finance, specifically within large NGOs or service-sector companies.
  • Deep knowledge of NPO taxation, income tax filings, and the NGO regulatory environment in India.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems like NetSuite or Tally, along with advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
  • Experience with "Big 4" or large audit firms is a significant plus.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
