iFOREST is an independent non-profit research and innovation organisation working across climate change, clean energy, just transition, air quality, natural resource management, and sustainable development. The organisation strengthens policy, strategy, and on-ground implementation through research-driven programmes. In the Northeast region, iFOREST has supported renewable energy assessments, climate strategy development, and institutional strengthening for adaptation and mitigation.
Responsibilities
- Lead research on climate adaptation, natural resource management, livelihood resilience, agro-value chains, forestry and biodiversity.
- Produce policy briefs, technical reports, research papers, and publications.
- Design and manage field initiatives, pilot projects, and capacity-building programmes across the Northeast.
- Develop project proposals, manage partnerships, oversee delivery, and track progress.
- Contribute to strategic planning for climate adaptation and help identify new opportunities including nature-based solutions and carbon projects.
- Expand iFOREST’s regional presence through networking, stakeholder engagement, and institutional relationship building.
- Interface with government departments, research institutions, NGOs and community organisations for co-developing adaptation initiatives.
- Provide technical inputs to state climate strategies, adaptation frameworks, and plans.
- Represent iFOREST in forums, workshops and dialogues on climate resilience and nature-based solutions.
- Mentor junior staff, ensuring high-quality research standards, documentation and output.
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science, Climate Studies, NRM, Forestry, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Ecology, or related disciplines; PhD preferred.
- 7–10 years of experience in climate adaptation, NRM, livelihoods, agro-value chains, forestry, biodiversity, or ecosystem-based adaptation.
- Strong analytical and research skills with experience producing high-quality publications.
- Proven experience in project development, proposal writing, coordination, budgeting, and M&E.
- Knowledge of nature-based solutions, carbon projects, or ecosystem-based approaches is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience working in or familiarity with the Northeast region; regional language skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently, lead initiatives, manage multiple projects, and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the Northeast region.
