The Centre for Law and Policy Research is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to advancing the Constitution’s promise through research, advocacy, and strategic litigation. CLPR works on issues of discrimination at the intersections of caste, gender, disability, and minority rights, supported by legal research, policy interventions, and governance-focused initiatives.
Role
CLPR is hiring a Senior Research Associate to undertake legal research, support litigation and advocacy initiatives, contribute to public-facing publications, and assist in project-related administrative functions. The position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Compile, organise, and analyse legal materials including case law, legislation, and policy documents.
- Conduct doctrinal, comparative, and empirical research on constitutional rights and social justice issues.
- Draft outputs such as reports, academic papers, policy briefs, and blog posts.
- Support workshops, consultations, and public events.
- Assist in project management including timelines, documentation, and reporting.
- Contribute to dissemination efforts including website content, newsletters, and social media.
- Coordinate with academics, civil society, and government stakeholders.
- Undertake allied administrative responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law with strong academic credentials.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to write clearly and persuasively for diverse audiences.
- Capacity to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with MS Office and online research tools.
- Postgraduate degree in Law, Public Policy, or related fields is desirable.
- Experience in Dalit and Adivasi rights, gender justice, disability rights, or minority rights is an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to rights-based research and social justice.
