About the Role
Gray Swan AI is looking for a Software Engineer to join their team. This role involves building and refining user interfaces, backend APIs, and database systems. Candidates should have experience in full-stack engineering, with a preference for those who can bridge frontend and backend development.
- Experience: Open to engineers with varying experience levels (early to late career), but not an entry-level role.
- Location: Remote or in-person at their office in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop web applications using modern frontend frameworks like Svelte.
- Build intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
- Develop and maintain backend APIs (FastAPI preferred).
- Manage and optimize database systems like MongoDB.
- Work closely with the ML research team to integrate AI experiences into products.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or Svelte).
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with backend APIs (FastAPI preferred).
- Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases (MongoDB is a plus).
Bonus Points
- Experience with SvelteKit.
- Background in AI-driven applications.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience deploying and scaling applications on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and secure coding practices.
- Exposure to machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) or AI APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face).
- Contributions to open-source projects or an active GitHub/portfolio.
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright).
- Understanding of AI safety principles.
