Role

State Technical Manager – Fishery Value Chain responsible for leading and managing fishery and aquaculture value chain initiatives, strengthening livelihoods, and driving sustainable impact at the state level.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage fishery value chain initiatives across project locations
  • Oversee aquaculture, fish farming, hatchery operations, and post-harvest activities
  • Provide technical guidance on best practices (breeding, feeding, water quality, disease control)
  • Build and strengthen market linkages with fishers, cooperatives, and processors
  • Support fishery infrastructure development such as hatcheries, cold storage, and ponds
  • Conduct training and capacity building for fish farmers and field staff
  • Develop strategies for market access, value addition, and quality control
  • Coordinate with government fisheries departments, NGOs, and partners
  • Promote adoption of innovative, sustainable aquaculture practices

Requirements

  • 7–15 years of professional experience in fisheries, aquaculture, rural development, or related livelihood sectors
  • Master’s degree or higher in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Management, or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Experience working with government programmes, NGOs, or livelihood missions is preferred
  • Proven ability in training, stakeholder coordination, and field implementation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the state
