Role
State Technical Manager – Fishery Value Chain responsible for leading and managing fishery and aquaculture value chain initiatives, strengthening livelihoods, and driving sustainable impact at the state level.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage fishery value chain initiatives across project locations
- Oversee aquaculture, fish farming, hatchery operations, and post-harvest activities
- Provide technical guidance on best practices (breeding, feeding, water quality, disease control)
- Build and strengthen market linkages with fishers, cooperatives, and processors
- Support fishery infrastructure development such as hatcheries, cold storage, and ponds
- Conduct training and capacity building for fish farmers and field staff
- Develop strategies for market access, value addition, and quality control
- Coordinate with government fisheries departments, NGOs, and partners
- Promote adoption of innovative, sustainable aquaculture practices
Requirements
- 7–15 years of professional experience in fisheries, aquaculture, rural development, or related livelihood sectors
- Master’s degree or higher in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Management, or a related discipline (preferred)
- Experience working with government programmes, NGOs, or livelihood missions is preferred
- Proven ability in training, stakeholder coordination, and field implementation
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel extensively within the state
