Sunaayy Foundation
Sunaayy Foundation is a Delhi-based non-profit that works to improve the lives of children from migrant and underserved communities through education, nourishment, and women's empowerment. Founded in 2009 with just a few children learning under a tree, it has grown to run 12 active learning centers and has reached over 15,000 children aged 3 to 17.
The foundation runs outdoor learning centers where children receive foundational education to help them eventually join mainstream schools. It also trains and employs local women as teachers and community workers, giving them both income and a sense of purpose. In partnership with Food for the Hungry and other donors, Sunaayy has provided over 3 million meals to ensure children are nourished enough to focus on learning.
Beyond academics, the foundation teaches practical life skills including sustainability, financial independence, and communication to prepare women and children for long-term self-reliance. Around 90-95% of funds raised go directly toward program activities, keeping operational costs very low.
Sunaayy's work is built around four core areas:
- Education for All The foundation runs outdoor learning centres that serve as a bridge for children
- Women Empowerment Sunaayy trains local women
- Nourishment and Well-being
- Sustainability and Skill Development The foundation teaches children and women practical, eco-friendly skills
Sunaayy is registered as a trust and is eligible to receive CSR funds and tax-exempt donations (80G & 12A certified). It is also FCRA-registered, allowing it to accept international contributions.
