About Suvita
Suvita is a startup nonprofit working to increase uptake of routine childhood immunisations in India. We are impact-focused and currently deliver two evidence-based programmes:
- Identifying natural community influencers and supporting them to act as immunization ambassadors.
- Sending SMS reminders directly to new parents and caregivers to help them remember when their child is due for a vaccination.
Having already reached over 40 lakh families, we are on an exciting journey to scale even further. Our work is incubated and supported by The/Nudge Foundation, Charity Entrepreneurship, Mulago Foundation, and GiveWell.
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone who loves tech and coding and is excited to use their skills to improve public health outcomes. You will help scale Suvita’s impact through automation, infrastructure improvements, and cost efficiencies. Expect to work on a variety of meaningful projects with ownership and flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize backend/frontend solutions using Python, JavaScript, etc.
- Enhance infrastructure on AWS, PostgreSQL, Google BigQuery.
- Automate SMS processing workflows currently using Google Sheets.
- Improve case management using SurveyCTO.
- Build dashboards to enable A/B testing and real-time data insights.
- Research tools to automate survey audio audits.
- Conduct quick analyses and build dashboards for internal use.
- Ensure compliance with India’s 2023 Digital Personal Data Protection Bill.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including on-ground program staff.
- Manage external vendors for smooth integrations.
Qualifications
Must Have
- Proficiency in Python or similar backend languages
- Strong SQL and database knowledge (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Experience using no-code tools when appropriate
- Highly organized and self-driven
- Problem-solving mindset with strong ownership
- Quick learner, adaptable to new technologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Fluent in English and Hindi
- Deep interest in social impact and mission-aligned work
Good to Have
- Experience with data visualization tools
- AI/ML familiarity
- Knowledge of tools like Google AppSheet
- HTML, CSS, JS for UI work
- Familiarity with AWS / Azure / GCP
- Experience building chatbots (especially WhatsApp)
- Basic proficiency in Marathi
