About The Role

Tech4Dev Project Private Limited is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their technology team in developing and maintaining open-source platforms. The role involves managing the engineering team, formulating technical roadmaps, and ensuring high-quality delivery of technology solutions for social sector organizations. This is a remote position with periodic travel requirements for team meetings and client engagements.

What You'll Do

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the technical direction of the platform(s) and managing the engineering team, including:

Formulating the technical roadmap for the platform(s) and managing the engineering team
Designing, implementing, and deploying platform-level changes in an automated and reliable manner
Interacting with the user base and solving problems in an iterative and agile manner
Working with product managers and customer support teams to ensure quality of work delivered
Managing and executing consulting programs on time
Leading and inspiring teams to identify business needs, process gaps, and levers to build efficient systems
Building the technology team's capacity on technological tools and processes
Identifying, building, and managing relationships with partners who can build and deploy necessary applications and technologies in an open source manner

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Formulate technical roadmaps, design and implement platform-level changes, and ensure high-quality code delivery.
Team Management: Lead the engineering team, mentor junior engineers, and build team capacity on technological tools and processes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Interact with users, work with product managers and customer support teams, and manage relationships with partners.
Project Execution: Ensure consulting programs are managed and executed on time, and solve problems in an iterative and agile manner.

Requirements

Engineering degree with at least 7+ years of experience in technology
At least 2 years in an architect, lead, and/or managerial role
Experience working or volunteering in the social sector
Experience working on commercial SaaS platforms using open-source technologies
Deep knowledge and experience in engineering and project management
Experience in one or more of Python, TypeScript, and Elixir/Clojure
Proven experience building front-ends and/or backends using open source frameworks
Ability to produce high-quality maintainable production code
Adherence to code testing, review, and check-in procedures
Good problem-solving skills and deep understanding of architectural and design solutions
Experience mentoring teams and coaching junior engineers in their skill and career growth
