About The/Nudge:
The/Nudge is an action institute working towards a poverty-free India, within our lifetime. We partner with governments, markets, and civil society to build resilient livelihoods for all. We are a collective of some of India’s best leaders and entrepreneurs from across the industry, academia, government, and development sectors, and our work is organized across three impact streams:
- Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE): exists to enable underprivileged youth to lead flourishing lives.
- Centre for Rural Development (CRD): exists to enable families to come out of extreme poverty.
- Centre for Social Innovation (CSI): exists to nudge top talent to solve India’s biggest challenges.
What are we solving for in the Economic Inclusion Program (EIP)?
The Economic Inclusion Program (EIP)is solving for the most marginalized and excluded households through an evidence-based, targeted, multi-faceted and sequenced model called the Graduation Approach.
At The/Nudge we have been piloting this program for the past 3 years and are in the process of catalyzing propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to ending extreme poverty in India. EIP will:
- Continue to implement on its own to iterate the design for impact at scale.
- Enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support.
- Enable govt to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support.
- Continue to generate data and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at scale.
- Build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality.
About the role
As part of our partnership with the government on the Economic Inclusion Program, The/Nudge Institute has been given the mandate to build out a tech product to enable the implementation of the Graduation Approach; in conjunction with the National & State Rural Livelihood Missions (NRLM/ SRLMs). You will play a pivotal role in building this first-of-its-kind tech product intended for use in Graduation Approach programs across the country.
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to defining the tech architecture of the product and ensure its implementation.
- Contribute to designing the technical implementation for product features.
- Work closely with the development team to guide implementation during the course of the sprint.
- Review code on an ongoing basis and use tools such as Sonarqube to ensure code quality, best practices and modularity.
- Develop POCs related to tech architecture and implementation for the tech product working with the development team.
Apply if you:
- Have a strong motivation to contribute to poverty alleviation efforts in India.
- Are willing to make periodic field visits to understand the program and the users for whom the tech product is being built.
- Work with a high level of rigor - especially in implementing development best practices.
- Have 6-10 years of work experience in software development:
- Development experience with Java and/ or Kotlin, Javascript [and/or]
- Experience as a tech lead for development teams [and/or]
- Experience designing software architecture [and/or]
- Building scalable and reliable software
- Have the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous startup environment (bias for action and curiosity to learn).
