Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation

The Inlaks Shivdasani Fellowship for Social Engagement supports individuals exploring meaningful social change through independent, action-oriented projects. The two-year programme nurtures learning, public engagement, and informed action across fields such as grassroots research, community rights, public health, ecology, legal advocacy, archiving, journalism, and the preservation of arts, cultures, and languages.

Role

Design and execute an independent, mentor-guided project that deepens your understanding of social issues and contributes to public discourse and community impact over a two-year fellowship.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a two-year project in a chosen area of public or social relevance.
  • Engage regularly with a mentor who endorses the project and supervises progress.
  • Attend three workshops conducted by the foundation during the fellowship term.
  • Submit quarterly progress reports and annual reports with mentor review.
  • Present work at the annual fellowship workshop.

Requirements

  • Indian citizen currently residing in India.
  • Born on or after 1 January 1990.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised Indian institution.
  • Candidates without a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Not enrolled in a full-time academic programme or PhD during the fellowship.
  • Ability to secure a mentor endorsement letter confirming guidance and periodic review.
  • One recommendation letter from an academic or professional who has worked with the candidate for at least six months.
  • Submission of a statement of purpose and a two-year work plan with timeline and expected outcomes.
