Role

Platform Commons is looking for a creative and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer to join its growing team. This is a full-time, remote role, perfect for someone who loves designing user-friendly, inclusive interfaces and wants to make a real impact in the nonprofit tech space.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and engineers to understand user needs and product requirements.
  • Create wireframes, mockups, UI kits, user flows, process diagrams, and prototypes using Figma.
  • Design intuitive layouts, components, and navigation elements (menus, tabs, buttons, input fields).
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback, stakeholder reviews, and testing.
  • Ensure all designs are consistent with brand style guidelines and accessibility standards.
  • Present design concepts clearly to both design and non-design stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of a scalable, reusable design system.
  • Work closely with developers for smooth hand-off and implementation.
  • Occasionally support the marketing team with visual content and social media graphics to maintain a cohesive brand language.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in UI/UX design, or a strong portfolio (fresh graduates and self-taught designers are welcome).
  • Proficiency in Figma.
  • Good understanding of UI/UX principles, colour theory, typography, and layout design.
  • Strong eye for visual hierarchy and user-centred design.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to usability and inclusivity.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with nonprofits or civic-tech platforms.
  • Familiarity with responsive or mobile-first design.
  • Interest in accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) or basic HTML/CSS.
