About The Role
UNHCR is seeking an IT Associate to provide reliable and timely IT services on the application and infrastructure of UNHCR standard IT services in the Area of Responsibility (AoR). The position will be based in New Delhi, India, and will involve working under the overall supervision of a (Senior) IT Officer to support the Telecom/IT infrastructure in the region.
What You'll Do
The IT Associate will assist in maintaining UNHCR's telecommunications and IT systems, ensuring operational readiness and providing technical support to field operations. The role involves:
- Assisting in on-site needs assessment, installation, and maintenance of UNHCR Telecommunications and IT equipment
- Establishing IT requirements in field operations, considering the overall IT and Telecom strategy
- Installing and configuring appropriate UNHCR IT and Telecommunications systems
- Ensuring equipment is in good working condition through regular inspections
- Maintaining records of installations and repairs/replacements
- Monitoring and maintaining the LAN, Network Servers, Printers, and other network components
- Managing network users and providing technical training to local IT resources
- Supporting the development and configuration of IT and Telecom Equipment used in field operations
- Resolving incidents and problems or escalating issues when necessary
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support and Maintenance: Assist in assessment, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications and IT equipment, ensuring good working condition through regular inspections.
- Network Administration: Monitor and maintain LAN, servers, printers, and other network components, manage user accounts, and provide technical training.
- Risk Management and Problem Solving: Identify and manage risks, make risk-based decisions, and resolve incidents and problems within scope of responsibility.
Requirements
- High School Diploma with 3 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with HF/VHF radio or IT systems, PAMA satellite systems, PABX, Cisco routers, and satellite modems
- Knowledge of training delivery (virtual and face-to-face)
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity software
- Knowledge of English is required
- Desirable: Hands-on experience with wireless and VoIP systems, electricity, generators, lightning protection
- Desirable: Previous experience in emergencies
- Desirable: Experience working with UN/UNHCR system
- Desirable: Knowledge and experience in delivering IT solutions using artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud/web services
- Desirable: Knowledge of cyber security and local market awareness

Salary: As per UNHCR General Service Grade 6 (GS6) salary scale
