Green Future Collective

Green Future Collective works to strengthen the waste management ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh. The organisation focuses on transforming waste into value through livelihood creation, systems building, and enterprise opportunities. They collaborate with municipal corporations to manage urban waste logistics and promote circular economy practices.

Role

This is a one year, full-time program designed for individuals who want to build a business in waste management or support government systems. Fellows are stationed at Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) to manage urban waste operations and hands on segregation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage daily operations at Municipal Corporation-owned Material Recovery Facilities.
  • Oversee urban waste logistics, material segregation, and value addition processes.
  • Coordinate with municipal staff, sanitation workers, and government officials on-site.
  • Manage waste streams, material value chains, and linkages with recyclers.
  • Implement up-cycling initiatives and behavioural change programs.
  • Maintain data entry and prepare simple reports regarding facility progress.
  • Report daily to the Regional Program Coordinator and participate in monthly meetings with the Municipal Commissioner.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be graduates or in their final year of study in any discipline.
  • Ability to work on-site in physically active and demanding environments.
  • Mandatory ownership of a smartphone and basic computer literacy.
  • Respectful communication skills for interacting with sanitation workers and bureaucrats.
  • Willingness to work directly with waste; no prior experience in the sector is required.
