Whitley Awards

The Whitley Awards fund and raise the profile of local conservation leaders in the Global South, providing them with project funding and international recognition to scale up their work. The awards support grassroots conservation projects that are community-led and based on science.

Role

The Whitley Awards are for mid-career conservationists leading wildlife conservation projects in their home countries. The funding and support provided are designed to help these leaders expand the impact of their proven conservation work, which is deeply embedded within local communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a wildlife conservation project in the Global South.
  • Ensure the project involves communities at a grassroots level.
  • Deliver practical conservation action that is founded on science.
  • Manage and scale up a proven conservation project.

Requirements

  • Must be a national of the country where the project is based.
  • Be a dynamic, mid-career conservationist.
  • The project must be located in the Global South.
  • The project must have a proven track record of success.
