About The Role
WRI India is seeking a Senior Program Associate to work on Fair and Equitable Industrial Decarbonization and support the Energy team on its work under the four pillars - decarbonized energy consumption, clean energy supply, energy for equitable development, and energy materials and circularity. The role will focus on clean energy adoption in industry, equitable transition policies, and strategies for workforce reskilling and upskilling, ensuring social inclusion in the industrial decarbonization process.
What You'll Do
The Senior Program Associate will work with the India Energy team to advance and expand decarbonization work in the Industry sector, with responsibilities including:
- Support program's industrial decarbonization strategy and broader decarbonized energy consumption pillar strategy
- Work with WRI India colleagues to ensure insights on India's energy access and transition
- Manage existing partnerships and engagement in Jharkhand and build new relations with academic and industry contacts
- Provide insights regarding industrial decarbonization and clean energy finance challenges
- Participate in stakeholder dialogues and represent WRI India on national and state-level industrial decarbonization platforms
- Conduct socio-economic impact assessments to analyze how industrial decarbonization affects workers, local communities, and supply chains
Key Responsibilities
- Support Strategy Development and Stakeholders Management: Bring knowledge of industrial processes and abatement technologies, work with colleagues to identify obstacles to decarbonization, manage partnerships in Jharkhand, provide thought leadership, and participate in stakeholder dialogues.
- Knowledge Production: Support WRI India research, develop knowledge products, ensure effective implementation of project deliverables, support development of working papers and articles, develop policy insights, and contribute to research on just transition frameworks.
Requirements
- Master's degree with specialization in engineering/science/management/economics or related field
- 4-7 years of relevant full-time work experience in the energy sector, including industrial decarbonization, socio-economic impact assessments, or just transition frameworks
- Excellent strategic understanding of India's climate and energy policy and its interplay with broader geopolitics and financial aspects of energy transition
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly with workers, MSMEs, and communities affected by industrial transition
- Strong networks in Jharkhand at relevant expert, diplomatic, NGO and/or governmental levels
- Ability to operate confidently at an expert level in an international context
- Excellent networking, analytical, writing, and presentational skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, able to work effectively as part of an international team as well as independently
Location: Ranchi, Delhi, India
Duration: 1 year as term hire (extendable based on performance and project requirements)
Salary: Indian Rupees 14,00,000 to 18,00,000 CTC Per annum with comprehensive benefits package
