Zenith Society for Socio-Legal Empowerment

Zenith Society for Socio-Legal Empowerment is a non-profit organisation working on grassroot legal empowerment of Adivasi, Dalit, and other marginalised communities in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India.

Zenith works with the community in order to build their capacity in understanding their legal rights, defining their ideas of change, and taking appropriate measures in order to live a more just and dignified life. Zenith is a registered society under the Madhya Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 1973.

In the Chambal-Gwalior region, unequal structures of caste, class, and gender often lead to systemic discrimination and violent crimes. Marginalized communities face:

• Lack of awareness regarding their legal rights.
• Inability to navigate and enforce rights within the state machinery.
• Institutional barriers that prevent the delivery of justice.

Programs & Initiatives

Zenith operates through a "Clinical Legal Education" and "Community-Led" model:

• Access to Justice Program: Providing direct legal aid and support to individuals to help them understand and enforce their rights.
• Samvidhi Sashaktikaran Kendras (Legal Empowerment Centers): * Gwalior Center: Focuses on criminal justice, prison rights, and women/child protection. Includes legal help desks at the Gwalior Central Jail and Women’s Police Stations.
• Shivpuri Center: Focuses on land rights (forest rights, displacement, and encroachment) for Sahariya Adivasis.
• Malanpur Labour Pillar (Samudayak Adhikar Kendra): Works with industrial and migrant workers in Malanpur to secure social security claims and labor rights.
• Shivpuri Youth Forum: Engages local youth in environmental conservation (Jalashay Sanrakshan Abhiyaan) and provides educational resources through the Kalam Library.
