The/Nudge Institute

The/Nudge is an action institute working to build resilient livelihoods and alleviate poverty across India. The organisation works with women, farmers, tribal communities, and youth in rural development, agriculture, skilling, and economic inclusion, in partnership with 15+ central and state governments. Through its graduation approach, The/Nudge currently reaches over 1.5 million people across 10 states and is working towards serving 25 million Indians. It has also supported 200+ social entrepreneurs through its incubator, accelerator, and grand challenge programs. The/Nudge was founded with support from 130+ philanthropists, 40+ corporates, and 15+ foundations, all working toward a poverty-free India.

Role

As Associate Manager - Operations (Government, EIP), you will lead livelihood training and field operations for tribal and rural communities in Tripura. You will work closely with government bodies, community institutions, and field teams to design and deliver practical, context-specific livelihood programmes covering farming, animal care, and small businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the product team, SRLM, and partner organisations to build livelihood training materials (for livestock, farming, and non-farm activities) suited to local communities
  • Visit and study local areas to identify suitable livelihood activities and develop practical Packages of Practices (PoP) for each geography
  • Build and train a pool of master trainers within the state through a clear, structured process and regular assessments
  • Plan and manage a livelihood training calendar; design and lead training sessions for master trainers and community members
  • Monitor how households are using the PoP through regular field visits and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure accurate data on livelihood activities, household income, and expenses is recorded and maintained at block, district, and state levels
  • Study local markets to help communities find buyers for their produce and improve their income
  • Support community institutions (CLFs and Village Organisations) to procure quality inputs like seeds, feed, and tools
  • Coordinate with government departments to bring in resources such as vaccines, medicines, and affordable farm inputs
  • Anticipate and address challenges in the field before they grow into larger problems
  • Document success stories and good practices from similar communities to inspire and guide field teams

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Rural Management, Economics, or a related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in rural livelihood promotion
  • Experience working with SRLM or similar government livelihood programmes is a strong plus
  • Good knowledge of both farm livelihoods (livestock such as goats, pigs, ducks, and poultry; horticulture crops like Arecanut, Cashewnut, and Pineapple) and non-farm livelihoods (handloom, handicrafts, small businesses)
  • Ability to adapt livelihood practices to local community needs, behaviour, and market conditions
  • Skilled at developing training materials and conducting training for rural communities and field workers
  • Proficient in MS Excel and basic data or database management; comfortable making presentations
  • Strong communication skills in English and Bengali/Kokborok (local language proficiency is a must)
  • Willingness to travel frequently across project blocks and districts in Tripura
  • A genuine commitment to improving lives of communities living in poverty, with a focus on timely, quality delivery
