Founded in 2007, Educate Girls is a non-profit organisation that focuses on mobilising communities for girls' education in rural and educationally backward areas of India. Aligned with the Right to Education Act and Samagra Siksha, Educate Girls is committed to improving access to primary education, especially for young girls.
About The Role
The Data Science Engineer will lead the data science and engineering team at Educate Girls, helping the organisation maximise its impact through data and technology. Responsibilities include managing data-driven decision-making, improving predictive analytics, automating processes, and building models for reporting and rapid course correction. This role involves both individual contributions and team management.

Reporting to: Manager Data Science Engineer
Areas of Responsibility
Data Modelling & Analysis
- Interpret data, analyse trends, and use statistical techniques.
- Develop dashboards to monitor program performance.
- Use predictive modelling to optimise targeting and improve program delivery.
- Collaborate with IT vendors to implement ML models.
- Research and develop custom data/ML models and test them through A/B testing.
Data Engineering
- Create efficient processes for data extraction, cleaning, and validation.
- Automate data pipelines and integrate new data sources.
- Build infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using Azure/AWS/Python/SQL.
- Optimise data delivery and management practices.
People Management
- Lead and mentor the data science and engineering team.
- Ensure high team performance.
- Conduct interviews and hire consultants or employees for data-related roles.
Education Background
- Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant data science or related field
- Desirable: Master’s Degree in Science/Engineering/Management
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data analytics, visualisation, and management
- 3-5 years of experience with SQL, relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in data manipulation/cleaning with Python (Pandas & ML experience preferred)

Travel Requirement
