The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) is developing a state-of-the-art intelligent campus at their 54-acre Kengeri campus, Bengaluru. This campus integrates cutting-edge IoT and ICT technologies to enhance learning, research, and environmental control. The IoT Lab anchors the technology programme, working on real-time data collection, smart systems, and the eventual creation of a neural network of IoT systems across the campus.
About the Role
IIHS is seeking a talented IoT Architect to join their team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing innovative IoT solutions. You will be a part of the team that drives the IoT system’s architecture for the IIHS campuses.
Location: Bengaluru, with possible travel across India.
Contract Term: Initial 11 months, with a potential extension or transition to a permanent role based on mutual agreement.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable and secure IoT architectures.
- Develop hardware-specific firmware.
- Create and design embedded PCB systems.
- Work with communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, and RS232.
- Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes.
- Enhance the Campus OS software, focusing on its scalability, robustness, and UI.
- Work on autonomous vehicle development (land, air, water, and underwater) and integrate them into the Campus OS.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, data science).
- Keep up with the latest IoT trends and technologies.
- Contribute to other IIHS activities such as academics, research, training, and operations.
- Participate in IIHS institution-building activities and travel for work if required.
Person Specification
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 2-4 years in designing and developing IoT solutions.
- Skills:
- Expertise in ESP32 and Raspberry Pi platforms.
- Proficient in programming languages like Python, C, and C++.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects within deadlines and budgets.
