About

Green Evangelisation Movement Council is a non-profit organisation working to reduce air pollution and its effects on human health. It is registered under Section 8 of the Indian Companies Act 2013, which means it may sell, market and distribute services connected to green projects but cannot operate for profit, and it states that it keeps the same objectives and management in India and abroad. The organisation frames air pollution as a man-made problem that shortens lives and drives chronic respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological illness, with older people and children most exposed. Its stated position is that clean air is a basic condition for human existence and that the practical route to it is switching sectors to lower-polluting alternatives. It describes itself as an organisation that works through deeds rather than verbal preaching, promoting green alternatives directly to fleet operators, institutions and individuals. Youtube Video >

Major Areas of Work

  • Clean mobility: Promoting electric vehicles as a replacement for petrol and diesel engines, on the basis that they cut carbon dioxide, fine particulate and other toxic emissions.

  • Renewable energy: Promoting solar power as a pollution-free generation source that reduces dependence on fossil fuels and produces output year round.

  • Public awareness: Publishing articles, blogs, an e-book and a large FAQ resource explaining air pollution, its health effects and the available alternatives.

  • Volunteer mobilisation: Recruiting and placing volunteers across India to carry the clean-air message into their own communities.

  • Climate advocacy: Speaking publicly on climate change as a linked threat, and on building resilience to its effects alongside cutting the activities that cause air pollution.

Major Initiatives and Programmes

  • Electric vehicle promotion: A programme to move fleet operators and individual owners from diesel and petrol vehicles to electric ones, positioned by the organisation as its first alternative.

  • Integrated solar roofing: A solar roofing system with a cement base that functions as a complete roof while generating power, designed to be leak proof and suited to cyclone and heavy-wind terrain.

  • GEM volunteer programme: A paid volunteer role for people across India, open to all backgrounds and ages, with an honorarium plus organisational benefits and promotions, and a stated preference for freshers and young people with strong English and local-language communication.

  • 100 Frequently Asked Questions: A public reference covering who the organisation is, what it does, and general questions on air pollution and electric vehicles.

  • Green e-book: A downloadable publication in four parts covering pollution and its effects, solutions for pollution, GEM volunteers, and the 100 FAQ set.

The integrated solar roofing system is the organisation's most developed technical offering. It promotes it as an alternative to conventional solar panels mounted over an existing roof, arguing that the panels sit as the roof itself and change the appearance of the building rather than detract from it. The organisation states that the cement base reduces thermal conductivity compared with a traditional roof and keeps interiors up to 3 degrees Celsius cooler, which it links to rising cooling demand in Indian buildings. It cites the World Green Building Council's global status report, which projects that after 2030 India will construct buildings with three times more floor area and cooling energy demand than before.

The work suits people who want a direct, field-facing role in environmental action rather than a research or policy one. Volunteers and staff spend their time explaining air pollution to households, institutions and vehicle operators, and moving them toward specific alternatives such as electric vehicles and solar roofing. It gives exposure to both the advocacy side of climate work and the commercial side of clean technology, since the organisation promotes and distributes green products while remaining non-profit. It fits people early in their careers who are comfortable with direct communication in English and a local language, and anyone who wants environmental work measured in installations and conversions rather than reports.
