About

HEED India is a Mumbai-based non-profit and trademarked initiative of Samarpan Charitable Trust, established in 2012. Built on the belief that health, education, and sports are the cornerstones of any progressive nation, HEED India works with children from underserved communities across Mumbai's municipal schools and urban slums, channelling their energy into structured sports training, reading habits, and health awareness. The organisation has coached 3,700 students, donated 4,400 books, and won 207 medals across tournaments. HEED India works in partnership with MCGM (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) and the Maharashtra Boxing Association (MCBA), running its programmes primarily in BMC schools across Mumbai. heed (1).jpg

Key programmes include:

Sports Training: HEED India runs structured training programmes in four sports across municipal schools in Mumbai: Athletics, Taekwondo, Boxing, and Kabaddi. Each sport is selected for the specific physical, mental, and social skills it builds in children from challenging backgrounds. All children are provided with uniforms, protective gear, and equipment at no cost, removing barriers to participation.

HEED India Tournaments: To give trained children a platform for competitive play, HEED India organises its own tournaments, including the HEED India Boxing Cup, a sub-junior level championship for under-15 boys and girls run on a round robin format. Travel, accommodation, and food for all participants are covered by the organisation.

Health Champs Program: A digital health literacy initiative targeting school students, covering environmental hygiene, nutrition, oral health, sex education, and mental health through engaging online content.

The Anand Project: A health intervention programme connecting underserved communities in urban slums and rural villages with specialised doctors and healthcare teams through digital health tools, improving preventive health awareness and access.

1 Book to Read: A reading initiative that organises book collection drives and distributes physical books to children in low-income communities, with plans to set up libraries in underserved areas.

Patient Education: HEED India creates and shares reliable health content on medical conditions, treatment options, and self-care, equipping patients to actively participate in their own healthcare decisions.

HEED India is a strong fit for professionals who want to work at the intersection of sports, child development, and community health in Mumbai, contributing to a team that uses sport as a tool for building life skills, dignity, and aspiration in children who need it most.
