iDreamCareer
About
iDreamCareer is India's largest career counselling and career guidance organisation, working with 2.5 million students a year. While it also serves private schools directly, its social impact arm, PathShila, is India's largest social-impact career guidance programme, built specifically for underserved students and supported by CSR funders, state governments, NGOs, and international bodies including the United Nations.
PathShila exists because career guidance in India overwhelmingly reaches privileged students, while government school and underserved students, who face the steepest dropout rates, rarely get any structured guidance at all. iDreamCareer positions PathShila as a proven, scalable answer to this gap, backed by its own AI-powered platform, iDC ONE, and a large trained counsellor network.
Major Areas of Work
-
CSR & Government Partnerships: Designing and delivering large-scale career guidance interventions co-funded by corporates and run in partnership with state governments (currently active across 17 states).
-
NGO & Institutional Collaboration: Partnering with NGOs and international bodies like UN agencies to bring career guidance into their existing programmes for underserved youth.
-
Advocacy & State Capacity Building: Training government school teachers and publishing research like the Bharat Career Advocacy Report to push systemic change in how career guidance is delivered.
-
Affirmative Action & Girls' Empowerment Programmes: Co-designed interventions such as Sashakt Beti and Swabhiman Bharat, focused on empowering girls and other underserved groups through career guidance.
Major Initiatives & Programmes
-
PathShila: The flagship social-impact programme itself, structured around three pillars: customised process (built on a clear Theory of Change), a scalable tech platform (iDC ONE), and a trained counsellor community.
-
iDC ONE (for Social Impact): The AI-powered platform underpinning PathShila, offering multilingual career content, psychometric assessments, and a monitoring and evaluation dashboard for funders and partners to track outcomes.
-
UP State Government Partnership: A large-scale intervention with the Uttar Pradesh government, independently evaluated through a quasi-experimental study in Lucknow and Varanasi.
-
iDC Council: A training and certification pathway (with Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development) that also builds the counsellor pipeline powering PathShila's fieldwork.

People join PathShila because it offers something rare in the social sector: a chance to work on education and livelihood outcomes at genuine national scale, backed by real evidence (independent evaluations, not just internal claims) and serious institutional partners like state governments and UN agencies. Because iDreamCareer is a company rather than a traditional NGO, roles here often come with more structured processes, data-driven decision-making, and access to a proprietary tech platform, while still working directly on the same access and equity gaps that motivate most social sector careers.
PathShila suits people interested in education access and youth livelihoods who want to work at the intersection of technology, government partnership, and measurable social outcomes, rather than purely grassroots or purely corporate environments.
