About
Law and Equity Foundation is a collective of lawyers and social workers based in Jharkhand, providing free legal aid and running legal awareness programmes for marginalised communities across the state, including in rural and remote areas. Founded in 2023, the organisation works across issues of gender-based violence, disabilities, tribal rights, environment, child abuse, prisoner rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and digital rights. Headquarters: Ranchi, Jharkhand

Sectors: Legal Aid, Human Rights, Access to Justice
What They Do The foundation's work runs along two tracks: direct legal support and community education. On the legal aid side, the team provides on-ground support to people who need legal assistance but lack access to it, including in remote regions of Jharkhand where legal services are sparse.
On the awareness side, the foundation runs legal literacy programmes to help communities understand their rights and navigate legal systems on their own.
Broad activities:
- Legal aid - providing legal support to the marginalised
- Legal awareness programmes - empowering communities through legal literacy
Work Areas Gender-based violence, disabilities, tribal rights, environment, child abuse, prisoner rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and digital rights.
Law and Equity Foundation is one of the few organisations in Jharkhand that combines legal practice with grassroots outreach across this range of issues. For people with a background in law, social work, or human rights, it is a place where that work has direct, tangible impact.
