About

Sarvam Shakti Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that provides holistic education to girls from marginalised communities in India. It began in Delhi in 2012 as a small group of girls learning Indian classical dance under a tree, and was formally registered in 2014. The organisation describes its approach as an education that trains the mind, body, emotions and spirit. Its girls, called Shaktis, learn classical arts, yoga, spoken English and digital skills alongside their schooling, and receive nutrition support. It aims to keep girls in education, delay early marriage and help them move into careers that break generational poverty. It works across Delhi, Gurugram and Bengaluru.

Major Areas of Work

  • Holistic girls' education: Learning across academics, arts, English and life skills for girls from marginalised communities.

  • Arts and culture: Training in Indian classical and folk performing arts, with Shaktis performing on stage and leading cultural experiences for visitors.

  • Health and nutrition: Daily yoga and nutrition support to address malnutrition and build physical and emotional well-being.

  • Livelihoods and careers: Workplace training, financial literacy and industry internships that lead graduating Shaktis into jobs.

  • Mothers and families: Nutrition learning and income skills for mothers, to strengthen the home environment around each girl.

Major Initiatives and Programmes

  • Shakti Sadhana: Indian classical dance and expressive arts to build confidence, discipline and identity.

  • Shakti Strong: A daily routine of yoga and mindful movement, with some Shaktis training for diplomas in yoga.

  • Shakti Sanjeevani: Nutrition support aimed at chronic malnutrition, including vegetable juices made with more than 18 ingredients.

  • Shakti Speak: Spoken English, communication and body language, preparing girls to speak at events and on stages such as TEDx.

  • Shakti Shiksha: Digital and life skills covering basic computer use, online research, typing and workplace basics.

These five pillars make up the Shakti Project, the organisation's flagship programme. The Super Shakti Project extends it to the girls' mothers through two pillars: whole-foods, plant-based cooking for better family nutrition, and crochet training as a low-cost, home-based source of income. Mothers also receive daily nutrition support and regular yoga sessions.

Impact

Sarvam Shakti states it has worked with more than 1,000 girls since 2012 across 3 states, and has more than 395 active Shaktis today. Sarvam Shakti is a small, hands-on organisation where staff work directly with girls and their families in urban communities. Roles span teaching, arts and yoga training, nutrition, digital literacy, outreach and corporate partnerships. The work gives close exposure to girls' education, gender issues and the route from school to employment. It suits people who want to see the people they work with grow over years, and who value arts, culture and well-being as part of education.
