Spark A Change Foundation

Spark A Change Foundation is a Mumbai based nonprofit registered in 2015 as a Public Charitable Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, holding 12A, 80G, FCRA, and CSR-1 certifications. SAC works to close learning gaps for school going children from low-income backgrounds through in-school and after-school programs, delivered by trained volunteers and educators. Its work spans early childhood education, foundational literacy and numeracy, and career guidance, with a particular focus on children in Western Mumbai's low-income communities.

Major Areas of Work

• Early Childhood Education: Preschool level education for children aged 3 to 6, aligned with the National Education Policy.
• Foundational Learning: Strengthening English and Maths concepts for students in Grades 1 to 7 through trained volunteers.
• Secondary Support: Tutorial and academic support for students in Grade 8 and above.
• Co-Curricular Development: Computer literacy, career guidance, theatre, art, and social-emotional learning activities.
• Career Guidance: Aptitude and interest based career planning for older students.

Major Initiatives & Programmes

• Anviksha Preschool Program: Delivered in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), running pre-primary classrooms across BMC schools in Mumbai, aligned with the goals of the NIPUN Bharat mission.
• Foundational Learning Program: Volunteer delivered English and Maths support for Grades 1 to 7 at SAC's own learning centres.
• Board Ready Program: Subject-wide tutorial support for Grade 8 and above students, delivered by qualified tutors and volunteers.
• Computer Literacy Program: MSCIT and Advanced Excel courses for students after their SSC examinations.
• Career Guidance and Exposure: A structured course helping older students plan career paths based on aptitude and interest.

Impact

SAC currently reaches over 3,200 children through its programs, supported by more than 300 volunteers over 10 years of operation. Its Anviksha Preschool Program, run in partnership with the BMC, spans pre-primary classrooms across more than a dozen Mumbai schools, benefiting over 2,000 children aged 3 to 6.
