About the Opportunity
In Mumbai, Vital Strategies is collaborating with the Public Health Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to enhance the city’s crisis intervention services for women and children affected by violence. This effort is centered around the Dilaasa centres, which provide essential support including counselling, crisis intervention, and referrals.
Since the establishment of the first Dilaasa centre in 2000, these facilities have become a crucial resource for vulnerable populations across Mumbai. Today, 12 such centres are operational across the city, thanks to ongoing support from the National Urban Health Mission. Vital Strategies’ Data Impact initiative is supporting the Public Health Department to refine monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring the program’s long-term effectiveness and impact.
Role Overview: Data Analyst
Vital Strategies is seeking a Data Analyst to be embedded with the Public Health Department, BMC in Mumbai. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced data professional to contribute to impactful public health initiatives. The Data Analyst will report to the EHO’s office and work closely with both the BMC and Vital Strategies teams to analyze health data, generate insights, and support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management, Analysis, and Interpretation:
- Collect, clean, and manage data from 12 Dilaasa centres.
- Ensure data accuracy through periodic quality checks.
- Use data visualization tools to present data for program planning and monitoring.
Project Support:
- Liaise with Dilaasa centres for project operations and delivery.
- Support the nodal officer in day-to-day management of the program.
Data Privacy and Security:
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Troubleshoot issues related to data collection and analysis.
Training:
- Train Dilaasa staff in data collection, reporting, and analysis.
Documentation:
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and visual presentations of data findings.
- Support the development of data-informed policies and guidelines.
Coordination:
- Collaborate with various stakeholders and partners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Population Studies, Epidemiology, or related fields; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong skills in data analysis, data management, and visualization.
- Proficiency in tools like Excel, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Experience working with government ministries, NGOs, or multilateral agencies.
- Understanding of health systems in Mumbai.
Additional Information
Consulting Period: September 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025.
Monthly Fee: INR 40,000 to INR 50,000.
Location: Mumbai, India.
