4 weeksOnlineRemoteIntake: November 2026

About the Programme

AI for Fundraising: A Masterclass Series for Nonprofits is a 4-week, cohort-based online programme on using AI responsibly across the whole fundraising lifecycle, from finding the right donors to retaining and growing them. Rather than generic examples, participants work with their own annual reports, donor lists, and proposals throughout. It's an expanded version of a shorter masterclass already delivered to the ILSS Fundraising Programme, where it was very well received. The cohort is kept small and closed, with 20 to 25 participants, one per organisation, so everyone gets real attention.

Eligibility

  • Small and mid-sized nonprofits with an annual budget under ₹5 crore.
  • Fundraising leads or NGO leadership who can commit to all four sessions and the exercises in between.
  • Already comfortable with the basics of a tool like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
  • A paid ChatGPT or Claude subscription is strongly recommended, since free versions limit file uploads. At minimum, a Gmail account is needed.

Curriculum Overview

  • Identify, Finding the right donors: how AI has developed, building an Ideal Donor Profile, shortlisting donors from a large CSR company dataset, and where human judgement still has to lead.
  • Attract, Opening doors through warm connections: why cold outreach rarely works, mapping internal connections to target donors, finding the right decision-makers, and shaping a pitch for a specific donor.
  • Convert, Donor intelligence, collaterals and proposal review: setting up a reusable donor research project, creating campaign materials, and reviewing past proposals with AI.
  • Retain and Grow, Reporting, dashboards and AI governance: generating donor reports from your own data, building a simple dashboard, spotting growth opportunities with existing donors, and drafting an organisational AI policy.

Programme Highlights

  • Four live, interactive 1.5-hour sessions with hands-on exercises, plus onboarding, a baseline survey, and pre-reads beforehand.
  • Light assignments applied directly inside participants' own organisations between sessions.
  • Access to a peer WhatsApp group, recordings, prompts, and rubrics after the series ends.
  • The first cohort saw participants' self-rated confidence using AI for fundraising rise from 2.3 to 4.2 out of 5, with an average feedback rating of 4.9 out of 5.
  • Participants leave with real working outputs: a donor shortlist, a connection map, a reusable donor research project, a reviewed proposal, a donor report and dashboard, and a draft AI policy for their organisation.
