Fundamentals of AI at Christian Institute of Management (CIM)

About the Programme

Fundamentals of AI is a 1-month, fully online course that teaches people working in the social sector how generative AI actually works, how to talk to it clearly, and how to use it responsibly inside an organisation. It's built for complete beginners, no technical background is needed, just curiosity and a laptop or phone.

Eligibility

Open to anyone working in the social sector, across areas like religious organisations, community development, healthcare, education, and business. No prior AI or technical knowledge is required.

Curriculum Overview

• Day 1, AI Foundations, Generative AI and Prompt Engineering: what AI is and isn't, how tools like chatbots and image generators actually work, and how to write clear prompts that get useful, reliable answers.
• Day 2, AI for NPOs: hands-on practice using AI for everyday nonprofit tasks, drafting proposals and reports, donor and community communication, social media content, summarising documents, and making sense of data.
• Day 3, AI for NPOs and Responsible AI: more practical NPO use cases, plus ethics and governance, covering data privacy, bias, accuracy, transparency, and setting simple AI-use guidelines for your own organisation.

Programme Highlights

• Three live two-hour evening sessions over Zoom, plus four weekly hands-on assignments on Moodle that participants complete at their own pace, applied directly to their own organisation's work.
• Taught by a faculty member with over 20 years of industry experience in data science, including time helping NGOs go digital, alongside 15 years teaching data science and AI.
• A digital certificate from CIM for participants who attend all three live sessions and submit all four hands-on tasks.

Fees & Financial Aid

Standard registration (29 October to 7 November): ₹1,180 for NPO participants, ₹1,770 for others, including GST. Late registration (8 to 12 November, until 12 noon): ₹1,770 for NPO participants, ₹2,360 for others.
