South Asian Forum for Environment (SAFE) is a regional civil society organisation registered under the Trust Act, 1882. Since 2004, SAFE has been working to advance sustainable development, climate resilience, resource efficiency, and community-led environmental initiatives across the South Asian region. Accredited by key national institutions, SAFE works as an implementing agency for environmental and water-sector missions, operating at the intersection of policy, research, and grassroots action to foster inclusive and sustainable development.

Role

You will support SAFE's financial management systems and ensure compliance with statutory, donor, and institutional requirements. This is a hands-on accounts role covering financial recordkeeping, budget monitoring, regulatory compliance, audit coordination, and financial reporting across organisational and project portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records, ledgers, vouchers, and supporting financial documentation
• Process financial transactions, bank reconciliations, and cash flow records
• Assist in budget planning, expenditure tracking, and fund utilisation analysis
• Prepare periodic financial statements, utilisation reports, and project-specific financial submissions
• Ensure compliance with TDS, GST, and other applicable statutory and regulatory requirements
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audit processes
• Monitor adherence to organisational financial policies, internal controls, and donor compliance frameworks
• Support financial administration of projects, contracts, procurement processes, and consultant payments
• Coordinate with programme teams, vendors, and institutional partners on finance-related documentation
• Maintain systematic filing and archival systems for financial and contractual records

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Professional certification in accounting, taxation, or financial management is an advantage
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or grants administration
• Prior experience in NGOs, development agencies, or donor-funded projects is preferred
• Proficient in Tally, MS Excel, and computerised accounting systems
• Sound understanding of accounting standards, financial controls, and compliance requirements
• Strong analytical, documentation, and organisational skills
• High attention to detail, integrity, and professional discretion
