The organisation partners with communities, government agencies and local stakeholders to ensure children living in difficult circumstances have access to protection, care and opportunities to thrive.

Role

Railway Children India is hiring a Community Mobiliser in Delhi. This full-time, field-based role involves working closely with children, families, community groups and government stakeholders to strengthen child protection systems, mobilise communities and support vulnerable children through outreach, awareness programmes and case management. The role requires regular field visits across assigned communities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly action plans in coordination with the Project Coordinator.
  • Conduct regular home visits to track children identified through vulnerability assessments.
  • Encourage children's participation in community activity centres.
  • Manage community activity centres and support community volunteers.
  • Build strong relationships with children, parents, youth groups and community leaders.
  • Organise awareness campaigns, community meetings and outreach activities.
  • Form and strengthen peer groups, mothers' groups, self-help groups and adolescent groups.
  • Support out-of-school children with enrolment, tutoring and after-school programmes.
  • Coordinate with government departments, NGOs and community organisations.
  • Promote access to social security schemes, healthcare and other support services.
  • Maintain documentation including attendance, registration forms, follow-up records and reports.
  • Support case management and child protection referrals in coordination with the Project Coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with Railway Children India's Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Graduate or Diploma holder in any discipline. A degree in Social Work is preferred.
  • 1–2 yr of experience in the development sector, preferably working with children.
  • Experience in community outreach and engagement with vulnerable groups.
  • Understanding of child protection issues and relevant laws is an advantage.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Hindi (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in English is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake regular field work.
