Smile Foundation

Smile Foundation works for the welfare of underprivileged children and their families through programmes in education, healthcare, skilling, and women empowerment. Started in 2002, it has grown into a national development organization with a presence in 27 states, impacting over 2 million underprivileged children and families. Role

A field-based role leading community engagement and implementation of the Nestle Project at the village level in Moga, Punjab. The Community Mobiliser will build relationships with community members, run health and education activities, support scholarship facilitation for engineering students, and help form and strengthen community groups, reporting to the Cluster Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Conduct household visits and community outreach, facilitating health, nutrition, sanitation, and education sessions using approved IEC materials
• Support village-level events, campaigns, and beneficiary identification, enrolment, and referrals to government services
• Build rapport with households, community leaders, and local institutions, and mobilize participation in project activities, especially among women, adolescents, and vulnerable groups
• Support formation and strengthening of community groups like women's groups, youth groups, and Village Development Committees
• Coordinate scholarship outreach in engineering colleges, including application screening, documentation, disbursement, laptop distribution, and ongoing mentorship of scholars
• Maintain accurate records of field activities and beneficiary interactions, and report data, challenges, and success stories to the Cluster Coordinator
• Work closely with Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs, Panchayat representatives, and school teachers to promote student participation and support visits by donors and officials
• Deliver health, nutrition, and community development messages through participatory methods, and address misconceptions through counselling
• Follow organisational policies, safeguarding standards, and confidentiality requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Development Studies, or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in project implementation and team management in the NGO or development sector
• Experience in education scholarship programmes, health, nutrition, or community development is preferred
• Experience working in rural Punjab communities is desirable
• Basic computer and smartphone skills for data collection and reporting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage rural communities
• Good facilitation, documentation, and community mobilization skills
• Ability to work independently in the field, with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
