Institute of Advanced Counselling Centre (IACC India) was founded in 2011 to empower individuals and strengthen communities by addressing challenges in education, employability, mental well-being, livelihoods, and sustainable development. IACC India serves students, youth, women, coastal communities, job seekers, and vulnerable populations across Kerala and other parts of India, with a focus on career guidance, skill development, women empowerment, healthcare, fisheries and coastal development, digital literacy, and environmental sustainability. Over the past 14 years, IACC India has positively impacted over 25,000 students, 19,000 youth, and 8,500 women, working in partnership with government agencies, educational institutions, and CSR partners.
Role
The Community Development Volunteer will support IACC India's programmes across education, youth employability, women empowerment, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and rural development. This is an on-site, unpaid volunteer opportunity in Kollam, working with an Ashoka staff member, aimed at improving quality of life for underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Organize awareness campaigns and conduct community outreach
- Support training workshops and educational activities
- Mobilize beneficiaries and coordinate events
- Collect field data and document programme outcomes
- Promote environmental and social initiatives
- Support career guidance programmes, health awareness campaigns, digital literacy sessions, and livelihood projects based on interest and skills
Requirements
- Passion for community service and social development
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse communities
- Teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Basic computer and digital literacy
- Event coordination and community mobilization skills preferred
- Experience or interest in education, healthcare, skill development, women empowerment, youth development, or environmental sustainability
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Willingness to travel for field activities if required
- Available for 48 hours per week for 6 to 12 months
- Students, graduates, professionals, retirees, or individuals with experience in social work, education, counselling, public health, environmental studies, or related fields are encouraged to apply
- Prior volunteering experience is an advantage but not mandatory
