Role

Support the Manager in coordinating and implementing United Way Mumbai's environment projects, with a focus on renewable energy. This includes solar installations in schools and households, promotion of smokeless stoves, and wind and bio-energy initiatives. The role combines project management, partnerships, field work, and team mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement environmental projects with a focus on renewable energy, including solar installations in schools, community buildings, and households, as well as smokeless stoves and other renewable energy initiatives
• Execute environmental projects, campaigns, and corporate employee engagement activities
• Build and manage partnerships with schools, colleges, community groups, corporations, government agencies, NGOs, and citizens' groups for project implementation and mass awareness
• Coordinate with government bodies including municipal corporations, forest departments, education departments, and Panchayat and Gramin Vikas Vibhag for smooth project execution
• Develop and maintain a Monitoring and Evaluation framework for projects
• Conduct ongoing research on environmental issues and contribute inputs for project planning and design
• Develop communication and awareness materials on renewable energy themes
• Prepare reports, donor communications, proposals, concept notes, social media content, and presentations on environmental topics
• Manage, train, and mentor project team members for effective delivery and capacity building
• Oversee project budgeting, financial reconciliation, and reporting
• Represent United Way Mumbai at external meetings, workshops, and conferences on renewable energy
• Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations and international best practices in renewable energy
• Undertake field visits to project locations in and around Mumbai and across India as needed

Requirements

• Postgraduate degree in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental or Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, Sustainability, Renewable Energy, or an equivalent field
• At least 6 years of experience managing and executing environment-related projects
• Prior experience in the renewable energy sector is preferred
• Strong knowledge of environmental issues, pollution, and waste management
• Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Hindi; Marathi is an added advantage
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Willing to travel in and around Mumbai and to other project locations across India
• Adaptable and able to work in dynamic, field-based environments
• Genuine passion for environmental conservation and sustainable development
