The organisation runs long-running programmes that stay with a community over years, not weeks. Its livelihoods work focuses on helping grassroots entrepreneurs run steadier, better-managed businesses. This role sits within CYDA's entrepreneur development work, which trains and mentors small business owners in financial management.

Role

CYDA is looking for young professionals to work as Entrepreneur Development Trainers with a focus on financial management. You will train and coach local entrepreneurs in the districts of Tamil Nadu or Karnataka, helping them understand money, plan their businesses and keep better records. The work is field-based and involves regular travel to meet business owners where they are. It is a long-term association, and CYDA asks for a commitment of at least three years.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structured training modules on financial management for local entrepreneurs.
• Teach business planning in a way that first-time business owners can use straight away.
• Train entrepreneurs in bookkeeping and simple record keeping.
• Explain cash flow strategies and help owners apply them to their own businesses.
• Travel often across the districts assigned to you within your state.
• Run on-site workshops for groups of entrepreneurs in the field.
• Hold one to one coaching sessions with business owners.
• Mentor small business owners as they work to grow their operations.
• Build the financial literacy of the entrepreneurs you work with.
• Track the progress of each entrepreneur and each training group.
• Assess how well the training is working and what results it produces.
• Submit regular field reports to the management team.

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of professional experience in business development, financial training, microfinance or a related field.
• A commitment of at least three years to the organisation and its ongoing field work.
• Willingness to travel widely within your assigned state for field assignments.
• Flexibility to work to a field schedule rather than a fixed office one.
• Professional proficiency in Tamil and English for the Tamil Nadu positions.
• Professional proficiency in Kannada and English for the Karnataka positions.
• Excellent communication skills, spoken and written.
• Strong public speaking skills for running workshops with groups.
• Good interpersonal skills for working closely with business owners.
• The ability to simplify financial concepts for people from many different backgrounds.
• Comfort with tracking outcomes and writing clear reports.
• Interest in economic empowerment and financial management at the grassroots.
• Availability to join immediately.
