Kotak Education Foundation (KEF) is a Mumbai-based nonprofit set up in 2007 as the CSR implementing arm of Kotak Mahindra Group. For nearly two decades, KEF has worked to improve education outcomes and livelihood opportunities for children and youth from low-income families. Its work spans foundational literacy and numeracy, teacher capacity building, digital learning, scholarships, and vocational training. KEF's Unnati programme focuses on equipping youth from underserved communities with skills, confidence, and work readiness to access meaningful employment.
Role
You will work at an Unnati Centre to facilitate training sessions, support youth in building life and work skills, assist with community mobilisation, and help aspirants through the placement process. This is a hands-on, field-connected role that combines facilitation, coordination, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Identify potential areas, conduct surveys, and submit feasibility reports to support mobilisation of Unnati aspirants
- Build and manage relationships with local partners, NGOs, key persons, and community workers
- Spend 20 to 25 percent of your time on mobilisation activities in the community
- Work closely with the Centre Coordinator or Centre Head to support day-to-day batch activities
- Plan and deliver sessions on induction, life skills, English, basic IT, and domain-specific subjects as per the curriculum
- Conduct assigned sessions on time and as per trackers
- Support trainees in building work readiness, communication, and grooming skills
- Coordinate guest lectures, field visits, aspirant presentations, and assignments
- Give extra attention and support to aspirants who need additional help
- Facilitate cross-centre sessions when required
- Conduct pre-tests, post-tests, IYDP evaluations, mock interviews, and IT and domain assessments
- Maintain attendance records and support smooth centre operations and class management
- Update programme data regularly and accurately
- Track aspirant attendance during the placement phase and support them during placement interviews
- Coordinate with the placement team to ensure active aspirant participation and share records of outcomes, actions, and queries
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of experience in training, facilitation, or community engagement, preferably with youth from underserved communities
- Comfortable delivering sessions in English, Hindi, and a regional language
- Basic knowledge of IT tools and digital platforms
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks across facilitation, administration, and coordination
- Willing to work 8-hour shifts between 8 am and 7 pm, 6 days a week
- Comfortable working in community settings with infrastructural challenges
- Positive attitude toward youth development and livelihood support
