images (100).jpg EAII Advisors is Evidence Action's technical partner in India. It helps state governments run public health programmes that are backed by evidence, such as safe drinking water projects, National Deworming Day in schools and Anganwadis, and iron and folic acid supplements for children. The team works in 10 states with the departments of health, education, water, and women and child development. Its goal is to reduce illness in poor communities and help children and families live healthier lives. This role sits within EAII's India Safe Water programme, which works with government water systems to treat drinking water at the source.

Role

As Field Coordinator, you will help the India Safe Water programme succeed at the block level in Rajasthan. You will report to the Manager or Zonal Coordinator and work closely with the state team. Your work will include training government officials, pump operators and communities, checking that water treatment devices work properly, and helping local government take over the programme for the long term. You will spend much of your month in the field, visiting water sites, villages and homes.

Responsibilities

  • Train block and sub-district officials so they can run the water treatment programme on their own.
  • Support local government to set up water quality policies and tools that last.
  • Build strong working relationships with block administration officials, with guidance and approval from the state office.
  • Lead training sessions on water treatment for officials, water committees, pump operators, vendors and communities.
  • Check chlorine levels (FCR and TCR) each morning at water sites, record the results, and report any problems right away.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers, hold them to their agreements, and follow up on repairs until issues are fixed.
  • Support the District Coordinator through every stage of the programme, from choosing water points to installing and running devices.
  • Run community meetings, awareness sessions and household visits on safe water, sanitation, handwashing and water storage.
  • Work with Gram Panchayats, ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, ANMs, CHOs and schools to involve the community.
  • Collect monitoring data through site visits and Google Forms, and submit daily and weekly reports on time.
  • Manage field supplies such as chlorine tablets and test reagents, and plan weekly travel for approval.
  • Help prepare a report for the state government and Jal Jeevan Mission on how well the water treatment technology works.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma, with 2 to 5 years of experience in the development sector, preferably in water, public health, sanitation, or hygiene, working with government or NGOs.
  • Experience coordinating with government officials in water or health departments at the field, district, and block levels.
  • Strong communication skills in Hindi and English; knowledge of local dialects is a plus.
  • Experience managing suppliers and contractors, and implementing programs at the district, block, and community level.
  • Comfortable using MS Office and able to juggle multiple tasks and priorities at once.
  • A valid driving license and your own two or four wheeler vehicle, since the organization does not provide one (travel costs are reimbursed as per policy); a copy of the license must be submitted with your application.
  • Understanding of government water supply systems, such as PHED or RWSS, and experience building the capacity of government stakeholders, is an advantage.
  • Experience preparing reports and presentations using different types of data, and familiarity with inline chlorination technology, is a plus.

Benefits

  • Health insurance coverage including in-patient and out-patient hospital care.
  • Life and accidental insurance along with Provident Fund, ESIC, and Gratuity.
  • Flexible benefit options including meal allowance, fuel, and internet reimbursement.
  • Support for employee learning, development, and personal wellness.
  • Generous paid leave policy and recognition programs.
