For more than twenty years it has worked across Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. Its work covers education, child-centred development, livelihoods, local governance, health and nutrition, women's empowerment, water conservation and helping people get the government support they are entitled to. It works alongside communities so that change lasts. This role sits within Samarpan's finance and accounts function, which keeps the money and records behind its projects accurate and accountable.

Role

As Finance & Accounts Officer in Koderma, you will keep Samarpan's accounts accurate and up to date, so that project money is well tracked and reported. You will handle daily bookkeeping, help project teams plan and track their spending, and keep the records ready for audits, donors and the law.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain books of accounts and make timely, accurate accounting entries
  • Handle daily accounting work including vouchers, ledgers, bank reconciliation and financial records
  • Manage accounts on Tally and other computerised accounting systems
  • Prepare financial statements, budgets, utilisation statements and project-wise financial reports
  • Support statutory compliance including TDS, GST, EPF, ESI, Income Tax and FCRA documentation
  • Keep proper documents and records for audits and donor requirements
  • Help project teams with financial planning, budgeting and tracking spending
  • Ensure the organisation's financial policies and procedures are followed
  • Coordinate with auditors, banks, vendors and project teams
  • Travel when needed for project monitoring, audits, training or other work

Requirements

  • B.Com or an equivalent degree in Commerce or Accounting
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial management
  • Good working knowledge of Tally or other computerised accounting software
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Basic understanding of statutory and NGO financial compliance is an advantage
  • Good written and spoken communication in Hindi and English
  • Willingness to travel when required
  • Experience in the NGO or development sector is preferred
  • Careful attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
