Takshashila Institution

The Takshashila Institution is an independent centre for research and education in public policy. It trains people who want to understand how decisions get made in government, markets, and technology, and how those decisions shape ordinary life. More than 10,000 alumni have come through its programmes and now work across government, technology companies, law, and civil society.

Role

This is a 12-week Graduate Certificate in Public Policy with a specialisation in Technology and Policy, running as Cohort 45. Technology now sits at the centre of national power, economic growth, and social change. The programme gives participants the tools to think clearly about that: why digital markets end up controlled by a few companies, how AI is shifting economic and political power, why well meant technology rules so often fail, and what it takes for a country to compete when geopolitics and technology are tangled together. It is built for working professionals, with classes on Saturdays and a three day in-person workshop near Bengaluru.

Responsibilities

• Attend Saturday webinars from 9:30 to 15:30 IST across the 12 weeks
• Commit 7 to 10 hours each week to readings, assignments, and discussion
• Complete five weeks of core modules on policy analysis, economic reasoning, and effective communication
• Complete seven weeks of specialisation modules on politics and policy in the AI age, responsible strategy, information economics, and high-tech geopolitics
• Join the two day online academic conference in week 5, with keynote sessions and breakout tracks led by practising experts
• Travel to the three day policy simulation workshop near Bengaluru and work in a team on a real policy problem
• Research, write, and defend a policy position by the end of the workshop

Requirements

• An undergraduate degree in any field
• Work experience is preferred but not mandatory
• Ability to keep aside 7 to 10 hours a week alongside a full time job
• Availability on Saturdays for live online sessions
• Availability to travel for the three day workshop near Bengaluru from 13 to 15 November 2026
• Willingness to bear your own travel, food, and accommodation costs for the workshop
• Comfort with reading, writing, and speaking in English, since the programme includes writing and media engagement work
• Curiosity about how technology, economics, and government affect each other, whether you build technology, regulate it, or make business decisions about it
