Reap Benefit

reap1 (1).jpeg Reap Benefit works to build skills and agency in young people so they can solve real climate and civic problems in their own communities. Through the Solve Ninja Movement, Reap Benefit activates young people across India to take local action on environmental and governance issues rather than waiting for someone else to fix them. So far, the organisation has activated over 1.2 lakh Solve Ninjas across 18 states, enabled more than 1 lakh civic actions, and partnered with 5 government bodies across 4 states. Reap Benefit's goal is to activate 10 million citizens by 2030 to strengthen local self-governance and community participation.

Role

This is an 18-month fixed-term fellowship starting July 1st. You will work on Reap Benefit's SamaajData platform to manage climate and civic datasets, build data pipelines, run analyses, and turn complex data into simple, visual stories that communities and local officials can act on.

Responsibilities

  • Organise and maintain climate and governance datasets on the SamaajData platform, tracking metrics across 10,000 and more communities
  • Build data pipelines, run statistical analyses, and create maps using GIS tools to track community progress and behaviour change
  • Translate raw data into clear, visual data stories that grassroots citizens and local officials can use to advocate for resources and hold governments accountable
  • Run A/B tests on civic engagement tools to support experimentation and programme improvement
  • Contribute to data models, research, and policy papers that feed into real-world outcomes at state and municipal level

Requirements

  • Recent graduate or final-year student in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proficient in Python or R, SQL, and data visualisation tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau, or GIS platforms
  • Comfortable working with real-world, ground-level data that may be messy or incomplete
  • Curious, eager to learn, and open to trying new approaches
  • Interest in civic technology, climate action, or community development is a strong plus

Benefits

  • Mentorship from tech pioneers, civic leaders, and policy experts on Reap Benefit's board and advisory network
  • Opportunity to co-create data models, research, and policy papers with real-world impact
  • Work alongside partners such as UNICEF and the World Bank on insights that influence state-level climate budgets and local municipal policy
  • Strong portfolio builder for graduate school applications or a career in the social sector
  • Competitive compensation for the social sector, commensurate with experience
