Role

The M&E Officer will design and run strong monitoring and evaluation systems to track project performance, ensure data quality, and support decisions based on evidence. The role also involves research, documentation, and knowledge management to strengthen organizational learning. This is a full time, fixed term role based in Mumbai, working closely with the Project Lead.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the project's monitoring and evaluation framework, including indicators and performance dashboards.
• Guide field facilitators to ensure timely and accurate data collection and reporting.
• Visit project schools to check that data collected by field teams is correct and reliable.
• Carry out desk research using government and other credible sources to support project planning and decisions.
• Compile and analyse data to prepare monthly and quarterly reports, dashboards, and summaries, and share key insights with the Project Coordinator and Project Lead.
• Support the design of M&E frameworks and tools that align with programme goals and donor requirements.
• Coordinate impact assessments and evaluations, overseeing data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Design digital data collection forms using platforms such as SurveyCTO, KoboToolbox, or ODK.
• Work with different teams within Smile Foundation to share findings and insights.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in health, education, or livelihoods.
• Strong knowledge of M&E methods, including qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis.
• Comfortable using tools like Advanced Excel, Power BI, and Looker Studio for data analysis and visualization.
• Experience managing multiple projects across different locations.
• Strong writing skills, with the ability to prepare reports, case studies, and knowledge products.
• Good communication, documentation, and planning skills.
• Ability to work well with field teams and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to project areas, roughly 30 percent of the time.
