Azim Premji Foundation works across several social sector themes in India including disability, education, health, and livelihoods, by supporting organisations that create deep, lasting impact for underserved communities. Under its disability theme, the Foundation supports organisations addressing the diverse needs of persons with disabilities across urban, rural, and tribal areas in India, spanning early intervention, inclusive education, vocational training, rehabilitation, assisted living, and access to rights and entitlements.
Role
You will manage the Foundation's grant-making and programme partnerships under the disability theme. This is a senior role that combines field engagement, due diligence, grant management, and partner support to ensure that funded organisations deliver meaningful and lasting impact for persons with disabilities across India.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scoping and programmatic due diligence of organisations working in the disability space
- Review proposals to ensure all required information is in place, including organisational purpose and journey
- Engage with partner organisations to understand the effects of their work and support their growth
- Guide organisations in budget preparation and support the finance team with budget review and financial due diligence
- Lead the grant-making process for assigned organisations and ensure compliance with the Foundation's guidelines
- Manage the full grant lifecycle through the Foundation's grant management system
- Support ecosystem development by engaging with capacity-building initiatives for caregivers, frontline staff, and rehabilitation professionals
- Travel extensively to partner locations across India for field visits and partner engagement
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience working in the disability domain with programme implementation and management experience
- Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred
- Clear understanding of government schemes, initiatives, and interventions related to disability is desirable
- Experience in grant-making, grant management, and programme budgeting is preferred; fundraising experience is also welcome
- Track record of significant and lasting contributions in the disability or social sector space
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- High level of self-motivation, initiative, and creativity
- Able to work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel extensively
