This organisation works with small and marginal farmers in eastern Gujarat, with a particular focus on women farmers. Its work covers sustainable and natural farming, soil health, climate resilience, seed systems and bio-resource centres. It also helps farmers come together into collectives and farmer producer organisations so they can plan production, aggregate what they grow and reach better markets. The field area covers Panchmahal, Mahisagar and Dahod districts, run from a field office in Morva Hadaf. This role sits at the head of the regional field structure, which delivers all of these programmes on the ground.

Role

The Programme Manager cum Agriculture Expert will lead all programmes in the region, providing strategic direction, technical expertise in agriculture-based livelihoods, and overall management. This role is responsible for effective programme delivery, guiding the field team, and driving sustainable agriculture, enterprise development, and market linkages for small and marginal farmers, especially women.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and supervision of programme implementation across clusters and blocks
• Guide and review work plans of coordinators and field team members
• Act as lead technical expert on sustainable agriculture, natural farming, and soil health
• Guide the setup of FPOs, Bio-Resource Centres, seed systems, and other agri institutions
• Lead strategy for farmer collectives, enterprises, and market linkages
• Build partnerships with market players, institutions, and private sector actors
• Supervise and build the capacity of Project Coordinators, Cluster Coordinators, and field staff
• Conduct regular reviews, mentoring, and performance management for the team
• Oversee programme monitoring systems and ensure quality reporting and documentation
• Manage programme budgets and ensure financial discipline and compliance
• Represent the organization with government bodies, donors, and partners
• Build partnerships and convergence with government schemes
• Contribute to programme design, scaling strategies, and proposal development
• Develop SOPs and systems to standardize programme delivery
• Identify risks during implementation and take steps for mitigation and crisis management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Agribusiness, Master's preferred
• 4 to 5 years of experience in agriculture-based livelihood programmes
• Good understanding of gender issues and demonstrated leadership experience
• Proficient in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and basic database management
• Strong understanding of data quality, validation, and error checking
• Experience with MIS tools, data collection forms, and reporting systems
• Proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi, with working English preferred
• Organised, detail focused, and responsible with confidential data
• Willingness to be based at the field office in Morva Hadaf and travel across Panchmahal, Mahisagar and Dahod districts.

Benefits

• Monthly compensation of ₹45,000 to ₹50,000, set according to qualifications and experience.
