Nature Conservation Foundation

Nature Conservation Foundation is an Indian organisation that protects wildlife and natural places through field research and hands-on conservation. Its teams work across some of India's most varied landscapes, from the forests of North-east India and the high Himalaya to the Western Ghats, oceanic islands and coasts. NCF pairs long-term ecological research with community-based conservation, nature education and policy work. Its aim is to conserve species and landscapes in a way that is scientifically sound and socially responsible. This role sits within NCF's Responding to El Niño project, which tracks how the 2026-27 "Super" El Niño affects nature and people across many landscapes and seascapes.

Role

As Project Coordinator, you will keep a large, shared project running smoothly as several NCF programme teams study how the El Niño affects wildlife, ecosystems and communities. You will help shape the project plan, keep teams on schedule, run meetings, track spending and prepare reports for donors, so researchers and field teams can focus on their work. The role suits someone organised and self-driven who enjoys owning many moving parts at once.

Responsibilities

  • Help the core working group and field teams set clear project goals, activities and indicators.
  • Plan, share and monitor work schedules and tasks with all implementing teams.
  • Track project progress and keep in regular contact with the working group and programme teams.
  • Organise and run project meetings, including scheduling, agendas, minutes and follow-ups.
  • Manage project budgets and expenses, along with vendor communication and purchases.
  • Coordinate with NCF's administration and accounts teams on day-to-day project needs.
  • Prepare narrative and financial reports and support communication with donors.
  • Support other project planning and delivery tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree with at least two years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong organisation and coordination skills, and the ability to work independently and take ownership of a wide range of tasks.
  • Experience in project planning, monitoring and reporting, and in donor relations such as preparing reports and keeping in touch with external agencies, is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and with similar non-profit organisations, along with a real interest in environmental and wildlife conservation, is a plus.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; familiarity with Hindi, Kannada or other regional languages is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation tools such as Google Docs.
  • Based at the NCF office in north Bengaluru, with some travel when needed.
  • Able to join as soon as possible and no later than mid-December 2026.

Benefits

  • Monthly pay of ₹45,000 to ₹55,000, based on your qualifications and experience and in line with NCF's institutional pay scales.
  • A one-year position, with the chance of extension based on need, performance and funding.
  • Work on a timely project that studies how a major climate event affects nature and people across India.
  • Work alongside researchers and conservation teams from several NCF programmes.
  • Build hands-on skills in project management, grants and donor reporting.
