Role
HelpAge India is looking for a Project Manager to lead the state-level rollout of a pilot programme with the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission that brings elderly care and active ageing into the Self Help Group system. Based within the SRLM office in Chennai, this person will connect HelpAge India with state and district teams, build caregiving systems on the ground, and help elderly people access health, social protection, and livelihood support.
Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of the elderly inclusion programme across pilot districts and blocks in the state
- Act as the main link between HelpAge India and the State Rural Livelihood Mission
- Coordinate across state, district, and block levels, and work with government departments to align efforts
- Track progress, identify gaps, and organise trainings, exposure visits, and review meetings
- Build training materials, tools, and guidelines for elderly inclusion and caregiving systems
- Conduct field visits and lead reporting, evaluations, and documentation of outcomes
- Strengthen Elders Self Help Groups and caregiving systems, and help elderly people access entitlements, health, and livelihood support
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Development Studies, Public Health, or a related field
- 4 to 5 years of experience in rural livelihoods, SHG promotion, social inclusion, public health, or community development
- Experience working with SRLMs, NRLM platforms, or large-scale government programmes is preferred
- Experience in programme coordination, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement
- Understanding of elderly inclusion, social protection, or community caregiving is a plus
- Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills
- Good training and mentoring abilities
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel extensively within the state
- Project Duration: 3 Years (annual contract, renewable based on performance and availability of funds)
