Role

CSD is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning, delivery, and monitoring of its projects across sanitation, water, tree cover, and CSR-funded livelihood work. You will guide field teams, hold the relationships with donors and government departments, keep reporting accurate and on time, and make sure each project reaches a real, measurable result for the communities it serves. You will report to the Founder and Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end planning, budgeting, and implementation of CSD projects, including Eco-San toilets, DEWATS, afforestation drives, and water facilities
  • Develop project work plans, timelines, and resource allocation in line with donor agreements and organizational goals
  • Ensure project activities are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Supervise and mentor field staff, project incharges, and community mobilizers
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, address bottlenecks, and ensure technical standards are met
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with donors, CSR partners, government departments, and international partners
  • Represent CSD in meetings, review sessions, and public forums with government and corporate stakeholders
  • Coordinate with village panchayats, school authorities, and community groups for smooth project execution
  • Design and maintain monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track project outputs and outcomes
  • Prepare timely, high-quality progress reports, financial utilization reports, and donor reports
  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure adherence to donor financial guidelines
  • Support the Founder/Director in identifying new funding opportunities and drafting project proposals

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), Rural Development, Environmental Science, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant project management experience in the CSR, NGO, or development sector.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication in Tamil and English. Both are mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of Hindi is an added advantage.
  • Strong grasp of report writing, documentation, and donor and government compliance requirements.
  • Prior experience in sanitation, water and WASH, environment, or livelihood projects is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic project management or MIS tools.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel widely within Cuddalore district.
  • Strong leadership and team management ability.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle several projects at once and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong people skills for working with everyone from village communities to corporate donors.

Benefits

  • Lead visible, on-the-ground projects in sanitation, water, and green cover that change daily life for families in Cuddalore district.
  • Work directly with the Founder and Executive Director, with room to shape strategy and new programme design.
  • Build relationships across government, corporate CSR, and international partners.
  • Join a small, mission-led team where your decisions carry real weight.
  • Competitive compensation.
