Pune International Centre (PIC) is an independent, multi-dimensional policy think tank promoting the values of the Indian Constitution and UN Charter, with focus areas including National Security, Climate Change, Social Innovation, Science and Technology, Economic Reforms, and Urbanisation. This role sits within the Centre for Sustainable Energy and Mobility (C-SEM), which focuses on solving challenges associated with sustainable energy and mobility within the Indian context, working closely with government agencies, policymakers, and private enterprises to suggest impactful, practical, and commercially self-sustainable policy recommendations. C-SEM is actively engaged in projects and policy research on zero-emission mobility, electrification in industries, and bioenergy including CBG and Bio-Green Hydrogen.

Role

The Research Associate will support research on projects related to clean mobility, completing project tasks within set timelines using tools like data analysis, scenario modelling, or policy simulation, while producing publications and coordinating with external stakeholders including government agencies and industry partners.

Responsibilities

• Research projects related to clean mobility
• Complete project tasks according to set timelines
• Use tools such as data analysis, scenario modelling, or policy simulation for research
• Produce publications including policy briefs, research reports, and peer-reviewed articles
• Coordinate with external collaborators including government stakeholders and industry partners
• Represent C-SEM at external forums, workshops, and conferences

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Energy Studies, Economics, Engineering and Technical Studies, Public Policy, or Environmental Science
• Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills; experience in mobility domain, lifecycle assessment, risk assessment, modelling tools, GIS, or statistical software an asset
• Proven ability to work in a team and take research outputs to completion
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in energy systems, mobility planning, transport electrification, or climate policy preferred
• Demonstrated experience in primary surveys, questionnaire designing, applied research, or policy advisory roles preferred
• Project experience in a research or think tank environment preferred
• Publications or contributions to public policy discourse in India preferred
