Azim Premji Foundation is a not-for-profit organization working to improve the quality and equity of public education across India. Since 2001, it has worked closely with government school systems, teachers, and communities in some of the country's most disadvantaged districts, focusing on long-term, on-the-ground change rather than short-term projects. Its work spans teacher capacity building, school leadership, curriculum, and education policy.

Role

As Resource Person, you will be the main point of contact for the Foundation's hands-on work with a few selected Government ITIs in North Karnataka. You will spend your time on campus with principals, instructors and students, trying out ideas in a careful, small-scale way and learning what really works before anything is rolled out more widely. This role suits someone who knows ITIs or shop-floor industrial work from the inside and enjoys working with people on the ground.

Responsibilities

• Work directly and regularly with 2-3 selected Government ITIs to understand their day-to-day realities in administration, faculty, infrastructure and student life.
• Support Strategic Trade Mapping at the institute level.
• Carry out curriculum bridging actions and other pilot activities in the ITIs.
• Coordinate pilot activities with ITI principals, instructors and guest faculty.
• Liaise with District and Department officials to keep pilot work on track.
• Continue and strengthen the initiative's existing training work with training partners.
• Spot problems as they come up during implementation and report them to the Program Manager.
• Collect data and support monitoring at the pilot ITIs so the wider initiative can learn from it.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of direct experience working with ITIs or engineering colleges as faculty, or significant shop-floor or industrial operations experience as a supervisor, technician, or trainer in manufacturing
• Working knowledge of DGT trade structures, or comparable hands-on technical or vocational training exposure
• Comfort working in a ground-level, on-site role with regular travel to institute campuses
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train or facilitate sessions
• Kannada language proficiency is mandatory
• Willingness to be based in Koppal with extensive travel within the district and occasional travel to Bengaluru
