Mentor Together

mentor1 (1).jpeg Mentor Together is an award-winning non-profit that started the youth mentoring movement in India. Over 15 years it has turned mentoring from informal, loosely defined guidance into a safe, structured, evidence-based way to help children and young people facing hardship move through education, careers and life changes. Its own digital mentoring platform, Mentor To Go, connects a national network of colleges, government departments and corporate partners. The work meets over 95% of the globally recognised Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring, and covers direct digital mentoring, government systems, curriculum and research. This role sits within Mentor Together's program operations team, which plans and runs the mentoring cycles that reach young people on the ground.

Role

The Senior Program Manager leads the planning and running of a mentoring programme that helps young women from low-income backgrounds move from college into work. The programme runs across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana on the Mentor To Go platform, with a Foundation tier for pre-final year students and a Placement tier that takes final-year students through to certified placement readiness. You are the main point of accountability for delivery quality, outcomes, donor reporting and the team.

Responsibilities

  • Own program-level operational planning across the Foundation and Placement mentoring tiers, including annual, quarterly and monthly plans.
  • Translate programme goals into structured operations across outreach, onboarding, self-learning, screening, matching, mentoring delivery and closure.
  • Oversee mentee mobilisation through college town halls, screening workshops, income verification and interviews.
  • Maintain the Mentor To Go quality standard across roughly 800 to 900 mentees, including orientations, check-ins, relationship-quality surveys and structured closure.
  • Lead mobilisation, screening, verification, safeguarding checks and training of volunteer corporate mentors.
  • Serve as primary relationship owner for the corporate partner, coordinating mentor pipelines and donor reporting end-to-end.
  • Direct placement-support for final-year cohorts, including employer mapping, opportunity discovery and placement-readiness certification.
  • Guide responsible use of AI-enabled tools for job search.
  • Lead and manage the program operations team of about 6 members, including goal-setting, coaching and feedback.
  • Lead internal and external programme reporting, ensuring data integrity and timely review of dashboards and trackers.
  • Anticipate delivery risks such as onboarding delays or mentor and mentee drop-off, and implement mitigations.
  • Uphold financial discipline in expense review and approval, and ensure safeguarding rigour throughout the programme.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years of professional experience, with substantial program management or leadership exposure.
  • Demonstrated experience with youth-focused programmes in employability, skilling or education-linked contexts.
  • Experience with gender-focused programming and/or placement and employer engagement is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage corporate or donor partnerships, including volunteer mobilisation and donor reporting.
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving abilities, with high comfort using Excel, tracking systems, project-planning tools and dashboards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and execution discipline.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgment, an ownership mindset, sensitivity to safeguarding and operational reliability in fast-paced environments.

Benefits

  • Lead a distinctive gender-focused programme with clear transition-to-work outcomes.
  • Manage a team of six and own a corporate partnership end to end.
  • Work with an organisation whose practice meets over 95% of the global Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring.
  • Join a workplace built on youth-centric, impact-driven values that put growth, curiosity and ownership first.
