Think Equal

Think Equal is a global nonprofit that helps young children learn kindness, empathy and respect for others from their earliest years. It builds social and emotional learning into early childhood education so that children grow up able to understand their feelings, get along with others and stand up against discrimination. Think Equal works with governments so these lessons reach children in public preschools and community centres at scale. This role sits within Think Equal's Uttarakhand programme, which works with the state's Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development (DWECD) to bring social and emotional learning into Anganwadi Centres.

Role

As the Training, MEL and Capacity Strengthening Specialist, you will help the Think Equal programme run well in your home district. Working closely with the Uttarakhand Project Coordinator, the field team and DWECD, you will run training sessions, support Anganwadi Workers as they teach, lead monitoring and learning work, and record what is happening on the ground. A key part of the role is strengthening DWECD's own training, mentoring and monitoring systems so the programme can keep going on its own over the long term. You will mostly work from home in your district and travel regularly to Anganwadi Centres, including remote ones.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and lead social and emotional learning (SEL) training and refresher sessions for Anganwadi Workers and DWECD officials, adapting plans to the local context while keeping to Think Equal's standards.
  • Make sure training is delivered with consistent quality and follows Think Equal's teaching approach.
  • Visit Anganwadi Centres regularly to observe how the programme is running, understand problems early and give practical support alongside DWECD staff.
  • Support baseline and endline assessments, classroom observations, focus group discussions and surveys with DWECD and the Think Equal team.
  • Collect, check and record field data, and use what you learn to improve training and programme delivery.
  • Coordinate with DWECD staff, including CDPOs and Lady Supervisors, to track progress, spot challenges and follow up on time.
  • Keep accurate records of training, attendance and implementation with DWECD and the Uttarakhand project team.
  • Help the Project Coordinator prepare reports, and document field learning, good practices, testimonials and stories of change while following consent and safeguarding rules.

Requirements

  • At least three years of relevant experience in education, early childhood development, training, community-based programmes or social-sector work.
  • Experience running training for teachers, frontline workers or government officials.
  • Experience in field monitoring, data collection and programme documentation.
  • Familiarity with ICDS, Anganwadi systems or DWECD is an advantage.
  • Strong facilitation, relationship-building, organising and documentation skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in Hindi and a working knowledge of English.
  • You must currently live in the district you are applying for (Tehri Garhwal, Uttarkashi or Rudraprayag) and be able and willing to travel regularly, including to remote locations.

Benefits

  • Monthly pay of USD 500.
  • Approved programme travel and accommodation costs are reimbursed separately under Think Equal's policies.
  • Work from home in your own district while making a direct difference for young children in your community.
  • Build hands-on experience in training, monitoring and working with government partners on a global early childhood programme.
