ARPO (The Archive and Research Project)
ARPO (The Archive and Research Project) works to preserve and uplift indigenous music traditions in India. Through training, performance, and archival work, ARPO supports tribal musicians from across Kerala and South Asia. The Earthlore Fellowship 2026, supported by Tata Trusts, is a nine-month intensive program that brings these artists together for learning, creation, and live performance. Role
Work alongside the ARPO team and the Earthlore Fellows through their full journey, from learning and creating music to supporting live performances. Be part of a residential training program that celebrates and uplifts indigenous musicians from Kerala and South Asia.
Responsibilities
- Support day to day operations of the residential training program for Earthlore Fellows.
- Help coordinate music sessions, training workshops, and live performances.
- Drive and support travel logistics for fellows and the ARPO team.
- Build rapport with tribal musicians and visiting artists from across South Asia.
- Assist with documentation, archival work, and communication around the fellowship.
- Support community engagement and on-ground events during the 14 days per month on-site.
Requirements
- Strong love for music and curiosity about indigenous and tribal music traditions.
- Fluent in Malayalam and English (knowing Tamil and Hindi is a plus).
- Comfortable driving and willing to support travel for the team and fellows.
- Open to staying on-site in Wayanad for 14 days each month.
- Friendly, approachable, and enjoys long conversations over kattan chaaya.
- Strong coordination skills and ability to manage multiple tasks on the ground.
- Comfortable working closely with artists, community members, and the ARPO team.
- Duration: 6 months, starting June 2026
